Factory farming

Imagine if animals could speak? What would they have to say? I am really curious about what cows, fish, pigs and chickens would say about humans eating them.

Thankfully one day I realised that I no longer had to imagine, I could actually ask them what they thought. And thankfully I have a voice that others can relate to more easily and I can share the thoughts and sentiments of the animals with a wider audience. I hope people will listen, and most of all, make appropriate lifestyle changes so these innocent creatures no longer have to live their lives in cramped unnatural conditions, and can live happy and healthful lives. Just as every being has the right.

If most people knew what was actually going on inside of these animals they would cringe in embarrassment when they eat meat. One might imagine they would be angry, or want to take revenge. But they don’t. They wait patiently; they have love for the workers in the shed, and take the time to get to know them on a personal level. They also care about the workers families and care notice if the workers are happy. All this they are capable of feeling whilst they sit in horrible enclosed conditions, often in chronic pain because they are never able to move, deprived of exploring the outdoors.

The intensive farm is one of those human inventions that our race should be ashamed of. How did it start? Greed to eat more meat, probably because it was seen as the rich mans food. Probably because people thought it tasted good and wanted more of it. A way to make money. Shove as many animals in as possible, fatten them as quickly as possible, pump them full of antibiotics so they can live in these horrific dirty conditions, and send them off to be killed and arrive on peoples dinner plates in an efficient manner as possible.

Animals in factory farms endure day after day of torture. At the same time, they know how to love, how to be grateful and how to appreciate. Please take the time to understand the truth about factory farming, and have the courage to change your eating habits accordingly.
Coming soon is the first film production of Our Place on Earth, “The animals you eat” or for the French version “Ces animaux que tu manges”. We visited piggeries, broiler chicken farms, battery hen farms, and fish farms in the ocean and on land and veal farms with video camera and asked these animals to communicate their sentiments and thoughts with the people that will watch. It’s a great opportunity for you to get to know them on a personal level.

Prepare for them to touch your heart. Available end September 2010.
