GET INVOLVED in an Epic Activist event on the East Coast of Australia

Hey all,

This idea was inspired by figuring out a way we can introduce more people to pigs, cows, chicken, and sheep, the animals that are traditionally viewed as animals we eat.  I wish that people could know what I do - that each of these animals are amazing in their own right.  Please take the time to truly gain some understanding of who they really are, and seriously contemplate whether or not these amazing beings with feelings, will for life, family's and purpose simply exist to be on your dinner plate.  I look forward to meeting the non-human and human animals on the trip as we walk together in search of a better way - where all species are recognised as sentient beings.

Hope to see you soon,

Love Jodi

3 Part Adventure: The Journey Home, Getting to Know the Animals you Eat
After many years of activism on six different continents, Jodi Ruckley from Our Place on Earth, has been inspired to help her animals friends in a more hands-on way, to call for change and stop Factory Farming - now. Jodi who has worked with PETA and followed the Prime Minister, John Howard around the country, is banding together with other like-minded, compassionate people to send a powerful message to our leaders that cannot be ignored.

Our 3 Stages to stopping factory farming:
Canberra – Calling for change

Canberra to Byron Bay – Walk for Freedom
Bryon Bay – Welcome home

We are calling all activists to get involved to help the animals. This event will be made up of various types of activism that we hope you can be a part of.

Part One: Canberra – Calling for change

Sunday 15 May

Starting at the RSPCA Millions Paws Walk that is taking place at Commonwealth Park and Lake Burley Griffin in Canberra from 11am. This walk is open to all animal species and we want to be involved to send a clear message to both organisers and participants that farm animals count as well. Part Two: Canberra to Byron Bay – Walk for Freedom

Starting in Canberra on Monday 23 May, we will embark on our 1000km Walk For Freedom. We will be asking for supporters throughout our journey to take part in the walk, whether part or all, whether two or four legged. We will be walking 25km per day on average, over a 42 day period from Canberra to Byron with stops along the way at Sydney, Newcastle, Ballina and other towns along the Pacific Highway route. We will be partaking in various silent protests near abattoirs and factory farms throughout the walk. Contact Nigel ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 0467 556 509 or Skype nigel.muecke) if you would like to be one of the walkers.

People needed for: long (entire walk), middle (100-200km) and short term (1-2km in towns) walkers with or without their animal companions (farm animals encouraged with short walker), places to camp along the way (including back yards or fields for walkers and tents), cooking or donating vegan meals for food giveaways and/or feeding walkers (at each town), helping with outreach at stalls (one in each town), handing out information and gaining signatures for petitions, compiling press and media contacts and applying for permits in your local area.

Additional support wish list: sponsorships and donations, temporary use of a mini bus, support car/driver, camping equipment eg gas cooker, lighting, enclosed gazebo/marquee, portable refrigerators, first aid kits, plus other skilled workers who would like to donate their time eg physiotherapists, nurses

Part Three: Bryon Bay – Welcome home

Saturday 2 July

To celebrate the completion of our journey home, we will be united with our many friends who joined us along the walk as well as local supporters of our cause. We’d also like to take this opportunity to welcome rescued animals into their new sanctuary homes. Local, organic, vegan food, local musicians and entertainers will welcome us where they will delight in hearing the stories of our adventures. Please join us at Three Worlds Organic Café from 12 midday.
